Acoustic and Vibration Solutions for Building and Architectural Design
Measurements and models
Over the years we have built many software and hardware tools for specific projects and problems. One of our most important software projects is called STENTOR ® which is a complete system for acoustic simulations and measurements of speech intelligibility designed to be used for classrooms. Originally conceived as a research toolbox, STENTOR ® has grown into a complete system using 3D graphics, integrating MLS measurements, noise measurements and based on speech and noise models in occupied rooms with weighted binaural loudness functions.
Our models based on the CATT Acoustics software, are prepared by our colleague Richard H. CAMPBELL who has been working with CATT software for over 15 years. Dick taught acoustics and audio engineering for 23 years in the ECE Department at WPI (Worcester Polytechnic Institute) .
Our signal processing software, filters (octaves and 1/3 octaves) ISO 3382, impulse response measurements with MLS are developed by our colleague Nicolas Teichner.
Equipment and software that we currently use at DOT Acoustics:
- Our system for room acoustic measurements using four synchronized microphones is called STENTOR® (hardware et software), impulse responses with MLS
- We use CLIO (hardware et software) for loudspeaker designs, MLS
- Our sound level meter is the Brüel & Kjaer Type 2260 Investigator with the BZ7210 (classe 0)
- We wrote our own data export and treatment software for the 2260 so that we could prepare templates for various type of measurements, with a whole range of filters that correspond to each type of data.
- Pink noise is generated with a Neutrik
- Microphones Earthworks M60
- Our own custom input hardware with 4 independent low noise mic preamplifiers that are converted to digital signals with 4 synchronized converters.
- Excel modules with VBA for noise, vibration, impact and shock
- AutoCAD version 2005
- 3DSmax
- Matlab
- Photoshop
- Praat
- Windows XP
- Microsoft Office 2007
